Junior Sailing Team
Start of the TSA Season
The sailing season is in full swing for the FWBC Junior Race Team. In March, we traveled to Austin Yacht Club for the first stop on the TSA Youth Circuit. Next, we traveled across the metroplex to Lake Ray Hubbard to sail at Rush Creek Yacht Club and indulge in the infamous chocolate fountain.
The next stop on the Youth TSA Circuit is the TSA Grapevine Grand Prix and Texas Girls Championship at Grapevine Sailing Club. The season is just starting and we are looking forward to a great season of racing!

The Nolan Catholic Viking Sailing Club has won the prestigious SEISA Sportsmanship Award for the 2023-2024 sailing season.
SEISA (Southeast Interscholastic Sailing Association) is one of five geographical sailing regions in the country that governs high school sailing. SEISA is comprised of high schools from Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, southern Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida. Nolan Catholic was nominated for building and maintaining their sailing program along with the Fort Worth Boat Club for the past nine years. Our sailors stood out for always assisting other teams and sailors on and off the water (without being asked.) Our team was also commended for hosting and always traveling to regattas throughout Texas and especially to New Orleans the past two years for the All Girls Catholic Regatta. The SEISA board voted on all of the nominees and Nolan Catholic received the most votes. Nolan Catholic will receive a plaque in recognition of this award. We are so proud of our sailors, parents, coaches, and everyone at Nolan Catholic and the Fort Worth Boat Club for providing their never-ending support and encouragement. Without it, this would have never happened. Go Vikes and FWBC.

ILCA No Coast Championship - April 27-28, 2024
In April, FWBC hosted the ILCA No Coast Championship. Saturday’s racing experienced excessive wind. Winds in the low 20-knot range from the south/southwest. The Race Committee, led by PRO Jason Dyer (Fort Worth, TX), squeezed 2 races in for the ILCA 7 and 6 and one race for the ILCA 4, before having to retire with the wind exceeding the ILCA wind limitations. On Sunday, however, the race committee was able to efficiently get 5 races in for all classes seeing the wind increasing from just under 10 knots to ending the day with 15 knots.
In the end, three Champions were crowned: the ILCA 7 Champion was David Hiebert from Fort Worth Boat Club in a fleet of 19 competitors, the ILCA 6 Champion was William Baker from Lakewood Yacht Club/GCYSA in a fleet of 17, and the ILCA 4 Champion is Tyler Logan from Rush Creek Yacht Club/GCYSA in a fleet of 16. Full Results can be found here.
